It’s also fact that patients with chronic kidney disease have higher risk of cardiovascular disease.
Recent research between the University of Leicester, Leicester Hospitals and the University of Loughborough in the UK revealed exercise as moderate as a 30 minute walk, 5 times every week could be the key.
During a 6 month experiment test revealed better fitness, greater independance and physiological improvements BUT also a reduced cardiac risk score.
[Note: Cardiac Risk score is determined using patient information such as age, sex, height, weight, smoker status, glucose levels, blood pressure, cholesterol, ethic origin and family history]
Future research from the team hopes to investigate the benefits of resistance training for patients with Chronic Kidney Disease.
